Reason 1

In order to establish proper communication between the display and outdoor transmitter it is important that they be set up as follows:

1. Bring both units inside and have the units 3-5 feet apart with nothing in-between them.

2. Remove the batteries from both units.

3. Press one of the buttons on the display at least 20 times to clear all memory. Verify that the display is blank before proceeding.

4. Using a good quality alkaline battery place them back into the remote sensor; making sure they are installed according to the diagrams in the battery comparTMent. Next, taking care not to press any buttons, reinstall the batteries in the display according to the diagram in the battery comparTMent.

5. Do not press any buttons for at least 15 minutes after installing the batteries. (Let them establish a good connection.)

6. An outdoor temperature should be showing on your display. You can now put your outdoor sensor back outside.

Reason 2

In order to get an accurate reading and to prolong the life of your sensor we recommend that you have it in a sheltered area out of the sun and direct rain. Fog and Mist will not affect the sensor, but a soaking in water may. If your sensor becomes soaked, removed the batteries and allow it to try overnight; then restart the station (see section 1A). You can mount it outside under an eve of your house or any other suitable place that will keep it out of the sun and rain. Do not wrap the sensor in plastic or seal it in a plastic bag.

The maximum transmission range is 300 feet in a straight line (line of sight). Exterior walls and obstructions will reduce transmission range by as much as 25-30 feet while interior walls and similar obstructions will reduce transmission range by as much as 15-20 feet. (An obstruction would include anything that is between the line of sight like a roof, walls, floors, ceilings, trees, etc.) For best signal reception the transmission range should be greater than the line of sight distance between the transmitter and receiver. Certain building materials as well as electrical interference may also affect signal reception.

Reason 1

1. If you have not yet installed the batteries or plugged in the weather station and it shows a time, remove the scratch-guard from the LCD panel.

2. This weather station receives a signal from Ft. Collins, Colorado (WWVB) to set it to atomic time. Sometimes, due to adverse weather or aTMospheric conditions you will not be able to receive a signal immediately. The best way to get a signal is to put your weather station in a window facing Colorado until you see the tower icon appear.

3. If your time is off by an increment of 1 hour, change your time zone to match your location.

Reason 2

In order to set up the display, follow these steps:
NOTE: Do not set the time or press any other buttons until the display has communicated with the outdoor transmitter for at least 10 minutes.

1. Press and hold the SET button for 5 seconds. LCD and a number from 0-7 will be flashing. To increase the contrast of the LCD display press and release the ALM/+ button. Press and release the SET button once.

2. The time zone will be flashing. To change time zones, press and release the ALM/+ button. When the correct time zone is selected, press and release the SET button.

3. Daylight Savings Time (DST) will show with ON or OFF flashing. Most states use DST, so this should be on. However if your location does not use DST, use the ALM/+ button to turn it off. Press and release the SET button.

4. Radio Controlled Time (RCC) will show with ON or OFF flashing. WWVB reception can be toggled with the ALM/+ button. (default is ON) Press and release the SET button.

5. A 12h or 24h will appear and begin to flash. (12h for AM/PM, 24h for military time) To change between 12h and 24h, press and release the ALM/+ button. When your choice is shown on the display, press and release the SET button once.

6. The hour will now be flashing. Press and release the ALM/+ button until the correct hour is shown. WATCH the AM/PM.

NOTE: When in the 12h mode, there is only a “PM” display, which appears under the word TIME. During the “AM“ hours this area will be blank. When the correct hour is shown, press and release the SET button once.

7. The minutes will now be flashing. Press and release the ALM/+ button until the correct minutes are displayed. Press and release the SET button once.

8. The year will be flashing. Press and release the ALM/+ button until you have set the correct year. Press and release the SET button.

9. The month will be flashing. Press and release the ALM/+ button until you have set the correct month. Press and release the SET button.

10. The date will be flashing. Press and release the ALM/+ button until you have set the correct date. Press and release the SET button.
NOTE: When the date is set, the correct day of the week will be displayed automatically.

11. Snooze duration will now be flashing. Press and release the ALM/+ button to change the snooze duration, choosing 0 will disable this function. When your choice is shown on the display, press and release the SET button.

12. Degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius will now be flashing. To change between Fahrenheit and Celsius press and release the ALM/+ button. When your choice is shown on the display, press and release the SET button once.

13. The forecast sensitivity will be flashing. Press the ALM/+ button to select one of the three settings. “1” is the lowest setting, designated for areas with a relatively constant air pressure; “2” is the mid-range setting; “3” is the highest setting, designated for areas with significant air pressure changes. Press and release the SET button and you are done.

Reason

The alarm time will be showing in the date display. To toggle the alarm on and off, press the ALM button; the date should then reappear.

In order to set the alarm, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the ALM button for 5 seconds and the alarm time will begin to flash.

2. Press the IN/HR button to advance the hour, being sure to keep track of AM and PM if in 12hr mode.

3. Press the OUT/MIN button to adjust the minute. When the correct minute is displayed, press and release the WIND/SNZ button to activate the alarm.

The weather forecasting feature is estimated to be 75% accurate. The weather forecast is based solely upon the change of air pressure over time; creating a necessity to disregard all weather forecasting for about 24 hours after the unit has been set-up, reset, or moved from one altitude to another (i.e., from one floor of a building to another floor). In areas where the weather is not affected by the change of air pressure, this feature will be less accurate. To adjust forecast settings see section 2B.

There are 3 possible weather icons that will be displayed:

Sunny—indicates that the weather is expected to improve (not that the weather will be sunny).
Sun with Clouds—indicates that the weather is expected to be fair (not that the weather will be sunny with clouds).
Clouds with Rain—indicates that the weather is expected to get worse (not that the weather will be rainy).

The weather icons change when the unit detects a change in air pressure. The icons change in order, from “sunny” to “partly sunny” to “rainy” or the reverse. It will not change from “sunny” directly to “rainy”, although it is possible for the change to occur quickly. If the symbols do not change then the weather has not changed, or the change has been slow and gradual.

If today’s date is not displayed correctly, see section 2B to set the date.
If today’s date is correct the moon phase is likely to be correct. This is because the lighted (black) segments correspond to the visible portion of the moon in the sky. For example, a full moon is displayed on the station as all black segments.

Reason

During the winter months, indoor humidity may drop below 20% in a large portion of the USA due to home heating. This may be represented as -- because it is below the effective range of this weather station. Humidity may also display as -- if the actual humidity is 95% or above.

Reason

Dew point should be showing above the temperature. To toggle between outdoor temperature and dew point display, press and hold the OUT/MIN button for 5 seconds.

Reason

To reset the indoor MIN or MAX temperature, press the IN/HR button to select the record you wish to reset. Press and hold the SET button for 5 seconds and the chosen record will be reset. Outdoor MIN and MAX temperatures are reset in the same fashion, by pressing the OUT/MIN button to display the record and the SET button as above to reset it. The MIN and MAX dew point records can be reset in the same fashion when viewed.

To reset the wind chill, maximum gust, maximum speed, or MIN or MAX wind chill press and hold the WIND/SNZ button for 5 seconds to display the maximum wind speed. Then press and release the WIND/SNZ button until the desired record is displayed. To reset that record, press and hold the SET button for 5 seconds.

NOTE: Whenever a value is reset, the current MIN/MAX, dew point, or wind data will be replaced with the current readings.

Reason

Check the polarity on your batteries to make sure they are installed according to the diagrams in the battery comparTMent. Also make sure that you are using a new good quality alkaline battery.
